Go Shopping this Weekend

Help beat cancer by sharing this Gap Coupon with your friends and shopping at any Gap store between Thursday, March 17th and Sunday, March, 20th.

You (and your friends) can receive 30% off your Gap store purchases, while you raise funds for life-saving cancer research - 5% of your entire store purchase will benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (when you use the LLS coupon).

The funds raised through this campaign are helping children like, Ethan Potter (pictured above), who has already spent much of his short life fighting a battle none of us ever wishes to face.

As Ethan's mom, Nancy, explains, "My husband and I did not know very much about leukemia. We knew it was a form of blood cancer that was inside the bone marrow but not much else. At the advice of our caseworker... we turned to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to help get a better understanding of this cancer.

It was there that we discovered that 30 years ago the survival rate of people diagnosed with leukemia was only 10%, but due to LLS and all of the money they have helped raised to find a cure, the survival rate for my son today is 90%."

"Dogs are the bomb"

To quote a friend, "dogs are the bomb."  And, I must agree.  Some of the best moments in my day involve Mr. Gabe.  He's a constant companion that is forever forgiving and always loving.   And, outside of the occasional desire to hunt down a rabbit (or deer), he seems perfectly content to just be near me.

It has been noted, when I leave the house without him - he gets a little unsettled.  When I return - I get a reception much like this solider received

Beagles love their owners and we love them!

Summer Awesomeness

The summer has been quite awesome.  Mostly because we've spent the majority of the summer boating with friends and family.  It has been a ton of fun and I'm looking forward to many more nice days.

Gable "Gabe" is also a constant companion.  This is his first summer with us and he's taken to boating quite well.  Isn't he the cutest?  Some say I'm a bit obsessed with my dog... and well, I probably am.

Because didn't you know that Gable stands for:
G - Greatest dog around
A - Always willing to make you smile
B - Best beagle on the water (and on land)
E - Ever so awesome
L - Loved by all
E - Entertaining to the last moment

Yes, I am hooked. :)  I love my dog.

My Dad's Model T

It has been 50 years in the making, but my Dad finally has his Model T fully running and looking awesome. He's been working super hard these past few months and he has fully restored his Model T. As I've said before ... this guy can do anything!  I can't wait to get a ride.

 Congrats Dad!

Woman of the Year

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who donated and supported me throughout the last ten weeks.  I may not have won "Woman of the Year," but I BEAT my own personal goals for the event.  Plus, the Society raised over $215,000 with the campaign.  Um, can you say awesome?

The Gala was an awesome time and I'm looking forward to going again next year (and the years after!).

See, doesn't it look like we had fun?  Maybe you will be able to join us next year!

I got to meet Shawn Johnson!

I got to meet Shawn Johnson at the recent I-Cubs game. She is one petite gal, but based on the photo below, I'm not that much taller. Hmmm....

So, here's a photo of me and Shawn ... and some of the other candidates for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Man/Woman/Celebrity of the Year campaign.

The campaign ends this Saturday. If you haven't had a chance to donate, consider doing it now online!

Don't Forget: May 8 I-Cubs Game

I still have $5 tickets available to this Saturday's I-Cubs game.  Let me know if you'd like to join us!!

*************
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is having a “night out” at the I-Cubs game on Saturday, May 8th (6:35 p.m. start time). It’s a special price for tickets – only $5/piece (general admission tickets are typically $8/piece). We’re playing against the Oklahoma City RedHawks.

If you’re interested, let me know! It’s a great way to spend a Saturday night with your friends and/or family. It sounds like we have access to plenty of tickets – so the more the merrier.

Barry and I are planning to attend and would love to see you
