Life is full of moments that shape who you are and what you become. I recently had one of those moments when I was approached to raise a minimum of $5,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) between February 23 and May 1, 2010.
Why did I say yes? It’s not because I enjoy fundraising. To be honest, I hate asking others for help or for money. The biggest reason (in addition to many others*) was a flashback to a phone call I received from my mom in August of 2001. My dad’s mysterious illness had a name: Stage Four T-Cell Lymphoma.
After a bout of crying and wondering “why me, why my Dad,” I did some research. One of the organizations I kept coming back to was the LLS (www.lls.org). This organization, the work they do for patients and the research they fund is nothing short of amazing.
During the campaign, my intent is to blog at least weekly and feature a little bit about my current life, but a lot about the moments my family has shared throughout my dad's cancer journey.
Psst ... Don't forget to consider donating online at: http://ia.mwoy.llsevent.org/tofteland.
Cheers to all of life's moments.
